Burpham and Warningcamp Cricket Club

Founded in 1880 the Cricket Club is still going strong.  The aim is to play good quality friendly Village Cricket, mostly against local Clubs and Villages.  We play on Sundays, and most of our matches are played at home, on the Burpham Recreation Ground.  Some of our opponents enjoy playing here so much that we have had fixtures against them for 50 years or more.
The Club is aiming to develop a thriving Colts section who are coached by qualified coach at Burpham, (Saturday mornings 10.00 - 12.00 during the summer), and the aim is to play matches locally.

History

Attached is a booklet that was compiled by Edward Corcoran from a study of Club records and talks with some of the then Village Stalwarts.  It was printed by the Nuns of Crossbush and published in January 1980. Also included here is an article that was published in the Arun Gazette in 1980, to celebrate the centenary of the club.
